2014 Playoffs Colorado Avalanche vs Minnesota Wild

This is the last one my round 1 posts, and like just about every other series this is a good one, with 3 overtime games and a bunch of last minute goals. I picked Colorado in 6 games just because I like to watch this team play so much, I would love it if they made it to the western finals at least. Colorado looks to close out Minnesota tonight in game 6. This has been such a close and momentum driving series it could easily go back to Colorado for game 7.

A few years ago Andy sent in some goalie sketches by his 11 year old son Riley, you can see them here. Now Riley is 14 and is still an avid sketcher, he submitted an update of the progress of his son. here is Riley's sketch of Colorado Avalanche goaltender Sami Aittokllio. I can see the improvements in the artwork and look forward in getting more images of Riley's improved artwork and with more practice and determination as all the artists work that've posted through the years he's sure to have some great work in the future, it will be interesting to look back on his work at the hockey in art blog.

Throw Back Thursday: Patrick Roy

For this edition I find it as good as timing as ever to post this artwork I did of legendary goaltender Patrick Roy of the Colorado Avalanche for this image. Yesterday there was a lot of talk on Buffalo sports radio as to bringing Patrick Roy in as the Sabres next coach and to that I would say: yes please. would give the franchise and the position much respect and he knows how to win, as a goaltender and coach, as far as the Jr level anyway.

Diel Sent in this awesome airbrush piece of Peter Forsberg as the Terminator, alas we almost thought he was the terminator in his attempt to comeback and play in the NHL a few seasons ago only to last a few games, if he is a machine he should really look into getting his ankle replaced.

Mini Goalie Mask: Colorado Avalanche

I remember collecting those mini goalie mask key chains but didn't care for just the team logo printed on the top so I got inspired to paint a design based on the team logo on each mask. no these are from years ago (early 2000's I think) so some logos will be outdated but i think some of them are pretty cool. I'm a little depressed this week with the Sabres turning their unbeaten streak into a two game losing streak, I'm going to the game on Wednesday vs. Tampa so hopefully they win that and move up the standings. Here are some pencil drawings from years ago.
