2014 Playoffs Anaheim Ducks vs Dallas Stars

This has been another great series to watch, Dallas is giving Anaheim all they can handle in the series. Up into tonight's game 6 every home team has won the game so odds are good it will head back to Anaheim for game 7. I picked Dallas in the series in 7, I thought Dallas had a grit to take it to the Ducks and frustrate them and that's what has been happening although I did expect Kari Lehtonen to play a little better in the series, while he did have some great games typically when they one, in the losses, he left me wanting him to be better.

Here are my digital drawings of Anaheim Ducks Captain Ryan Getzlaf and Dallas Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen.

2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs: Anaheim Ducks vs Detroit Redwings

This has been a rather back and fourth series, currently Anaheim leads the series 2-1, Anaheim have been out playing Detroit more than not, with only game 2 going to OT, and that was almost a great comeback by the ducks to score a bunch of goals late and rattle Detroit and force it to overtime only to lose by a power play goal early in OT. The Ducks seem to have come back and dominated game 3 winning 4-0, let's see if they maintain momentum for game 4 or allow Detroit to tie the series. Here are 2 more of my pieces of Anaheim Ducks Teemu Selanne and Detroit Redwings Jimmy Howard.

SportNic's

Kevin Lynch sent in a series of what he terms as SportNic's, it is a series of stylized goalie artwork for each NHL team that he drew by hand. I love the style and look of them and the team logos on the goalie pads as well as incorporated through out the equipment is a great touch although I don't believe they are all represented to be Chris Mason (See Jets pads). Kevin sent in several different samples of his SportsNic's from different teams, I'll post more at a later date, as Kevin says he is working on several more and a new series as far as how he came up with the style: "It's a character that comes out of years and years of sketching and playing Goalie." As well as creating these goalie ones for several different years he also has a VintageNic(59-80) Series, and a few smaller 'Nic Series, like Olympic,NCAA, and MN High School 'Nics. Thanks for sharing Kevin

Mini Goalie Mask: Anaheim "Mighty" Ducks

I remember collecting those mini goalie mask key chains but didn't care for just the team logo printed on the top so I got inspired to paint a design based on the team logo on each mask. no these are from years ago (early 2000's I think) so some logos will be outdated but i think some of them are pretty cool. Here's number 11, The Anaheim Ducks mini goalie mask.

Chris Pronger

I continue to experiment in this style which is a cross between cartoons and realism, I'm going to do several more of these (probably one for every team) I really like the finished product. Here's the latest work I just finished of Anaheim's Chris Pronger.

Mask Series - Anaheim Ducks

This will be the first in a series of looks into the artwork on the goaltenders masks for different teams. This team has been in the league for about 15 years now, they started out as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (Disney owned) so there have been quite a few different designs. My favorite is the duck/skeleton mask with the red eye, I appreciate that because I know I was worn by Steve Shields who had something with a red glowing eye on just about every mask he wore, I think that tradition ended when he went to Boston, but I've liked every one of his masks.
